Web sight - Analysis

Jason Mraz- Official sight # This site is unique in the way it originally links you to a page advertising his tour. Alongside  this is a link to booking a place and below a long bar at the bottom which takes you to the rest of the site. I found this to be quite a good way of marketing the image of Mraz and intend to do something similar on my site.

Main site page#  Immediately I notice the background, this was due to it's particular way of cycling through 5 pictures of the sky. This I also saw as a good way of giving a feel for the song. I didn't however enjoy how the background of the site covered the artists name. Due to the colours of the sky being so bright I found it hard to read Mraz's name; which i feel is the most impotent part of the site, as it was made to advertise him as an artist.

Similar artists sights
To find artists similer to Jason Mraz i used a sight called Lastfm. This is a sight which lets you listen to a collection of artists and musicians which have a similar style of music to the artist you chose.

There was one difference i noticed between Mraz and other artists of similar styles, he seems to be one of the only artist i came across whose music focuses on the acoustics of the guitar so heavily.

Artists

Eric Hutchinson - This artist page is quite literally the difference between day an night with Mraz's page. showing bright lights shaping his name on a night set background. Although very striking, it's not a sight i can see relating back to my song.

Sara Bareilles -Different to the others i have looked at this sight is very plain and simplistic. Although it forces you to focus onto the writing and the ghosted photos in the background are very appealing i can not see using this idea for my webpage.

David Degrew -I enjoyed this sights layout initially as it is very easy to travel throughout with clear links to each page. The home page also has an effect over it's inital image fading it out around the artist, i enjoyed this aspect and may use it myself. However there was one flaw i found behind the site, It doesn't keep the same colour scheme  flicking through different photos of the artist as you swap pages i felt was slightly tacky. This was due to them being of different locations and colour sets, personally i felt the colours didn't seem to fit.

Jack Johnson - This whole sight had a very rustic feel to it, containing a wooden panel backing the information. Not displaying excessive amounts of information or overly selling the artist. This might be due to him classing himself as a part of a band rather then a soloist. The sight is also devoted to charity and relief efforts, this can be seen by the opening page displaying images of hurricane sandy relief efforts.
The sight also has a vast range of links at the top of the page, letting you chose from a vast majority of
Different types of information. Giving the reader everything you would want to know about the artist and band. this is something i am hoping to do with my own website. Although the general set up of the page appeals to me the colour scheme i found to be slightly clashing and the panels wouldn't suit my artist.
therefore i have decided to use this as something to relate to but not base any ideas off of.

Matt Nathanson -I found his sight to be very fluid, however through it you can see the artists playful nature. The image of Nathanson placed over the background is a theme throughout the site as the initial page layout doesn't change. This sight is very simple which almost makes me question if he's a new artist, although he's released a lot of albums. This is an aspect i found to be a disadvantage to the selling of him as a figure, to summarize i felt this sight was under developed. There's also a yellow bar over the top of the page which i felt didn't fit, this put me off the website.

There were also a lot of artists i looked over however thease sites cover a range of different examples other artists i found however were: James Morrison (didn't like the sight very cluttered) Ingrid Michaelson (looked like a website for clothing sales) and Tristan Prettyman (Interesting but repetitive). through doing this reserch i was hoping to find a base from which to set my website on however this shows there's no set style for acoustic genre music. However I have picked up a few ideas i want to combine in my own site.
