Controversial music video (Monster- Kanye West)

Monster by kanye West was released in October 2010 on Kanye's fifth album 'My beautiful dark twisted fantasy' The music video displays both the objectification of women and also a large influence on ethnicity and what can been seen as racist behavior  towards White Caucasian's.

From the start of the video we can see sexism and images which could be seen as racist due lifeless white  women hung from their necks in a provocative manner.
This also shows a strong notion towards the action of looking, which fits into the stereotype belonging to wrap and hip hop videos. Although not as explicit and vulgar demeaning explorations of the female body are often shown such as in Jay-z 'big pimpin' and Ne-Yo's closer depicting a woman dancing in a provocative manner around him.

The main characters displayed in this narrative based video are all black African Americans these characters represent the side of good fighting agenized the ‘Monsters’ images such as the main character holding the decapitated head of a white woman depicts the exact reason why this video can be seen as controversial.

Kanye West produced this song using his own record label alongside the director Jake Nava an English born music and film director who’s worked with artists such as Beyonce and Adele.
Although his video did display wrap characteristics’ through the use of sharp cutting and fast paced movements thrown in between scenes it gives the feel of a horror film or a fast paced thriller. The video holds a record for being the fastest banned video on MTV being banned after a mere two days.
